Oh My God – A Naughty & Goddy Comedy!

I have just finished watching Oh My God. I was not that keen to watch it, but the reviews that I've gone through to other sites. When I started watching it, I didn't have any preconceptions in my mind. I was even pretty happy how the movie came up. But alike every other time, this is also a recreation of a foreign movie called “The Man Who Sued God”. Though the concept is copied, but that doesn't make it any lesser than other Hindi masala flicks. It's an out-&-out comedy, perfectly wrapped and crisp from inside.

Paresh Rawal plays a commoner Kanji Lalji Mehta who owns a business and he has spent all what he had to establish it. But unfortunately and in a very hilarious way he had to lose all that because an earthquake messed up his business. That was the only shop in the area that is struck by that natural calamity. When the insurance company denied to pay his claim describing that mishap as “an act of God”, he simply freaked out and determined to sue the God. As the existence of God is still dicey so he decided to claim his money from the so called agents of God.

The performances are subtle. Paresh Rawal proved his metals one more time and Akshay was on his favorite boots though he didn’t have much to do apart from supporting Paresh Rawal throughout the movie. But this supporting role is much better than what he did as a lead in “Joker” a month ago!!  The Ghost Rider tint with that bike was my favorite thing. Veteran Mithun Chakraborty is impeccable as one of the God’s agents.

The movie has some really good dialogues which touches heart and let you re-think about your  way of worshiping the God. This movie just reminded me the famous saying of Swami Vivekananda, “Jeevein prem kore jei jon, shei jon shebichhe ishwar”, meaning “service to man is service to God”. We knew it, but may have never bothered to follow it. Overall I liked it. Most of us did. And the rest of the one will also certainly do.
